श्रीगणेशाय नमः । नारद उवाच ।
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरीपुत्रं विनायकम् ।
भक्तावासं स्मरेन्नित्यमायुःकामार्थसिद्धये ॥ १॥
प्रथमं वक्रतुण्डं च एकदन्तं द्वितीयकम् ।
तृतीयं कृष्णपिङ्गाक्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम् ॥ २॥
लम्बोदरं पञ्चमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च ।
सप्तमं विघ्नराजेन्द्रं धूम्रवर्णं तथाष्टमम् ॥ ३॥
नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम् ।
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम् ॥ ४॥
द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः ।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वसिद्धिकरः प्रभुः ॥ ५॥
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान्मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ॥ ६॥
जपेद्गणपतिस्तोत्रं षड्भिर्मासैः फलं लभेत् ।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशयः ॥ ७॥
अष्टभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च लिखित्वा यः समर्पयेत् ।
तस्य विद्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादतः ॥ ८॥
॥ इति श्रीनारदपुराणे संकटनाशनं गणेशस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
Above Stotra is known as Sankat Nashanam Ganesh Stotram is taken from Narada Purana .
The Mahima or Significance of Reciting this stotra is given in hyms 5,6,7 and 8, which are as following -
One who recites this every "sandhya" ( morning, midnoon and evening) is freed from all obstacles and fear. Lord Ganesha blesses him with all "siddhis".
Those who desire vidya i.e. knowledge will be given knowledge, who desire dhan i.e. wealth will be given wealth, those who desire children, will be given children. And at last those who desire moksha will be given so.
Reciting this stotra for 6 months will bear fruits and in 1 year will reach siddhi. There is no doubt about it.
The one who writes and distributes it to 8 Brahmins, gains all forms of knowledge immediately.
This stotra contains 12 names of Ganpati -
Vakratund-as the one with the twisted trunk
Ekdant-as the one with the single tusk.
Krishna-Pingaksha-as the one with dark brown eyes;
Gajvaktra-as the one with the elephant's mouth.
Lambodar-as the one with the belly like a pot;
Vikata-as the grotesque one.
Vighnraja-as the king of obstacles;
Dhoomravarna-as the smoke-colored one.
Bhalchandra-as the moon-crested one;
Vinayaka-as the remover of obstacles.
Ganpati-as the lord of all
Gajanana-as the elephant-faced one.
Apart from above given significance worshipping Lord Ganesh is one the best remedies for Ketu. So if you are afflicted by Ketu, undergoing a Ketu Dasha , have your major dispositors or conjuctions with Ketu- it would be good practice to recite this stotra.
Moreover 12 names of Ganpati can be aligned with 12 Zodiac Signs but more on that later.
